Severe Weather Warning (Damaging Winds) for Mt Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island, Lower & Upper SE, Murraylands & Lower Eyre Peninsula

Severe Weather Warning

For people in Mount Lofty Ranges, Kangaroo Island, Lower South East and parts of Lower Eyre Peninsula, Murraylands and Upper South East districts.

Issued at 11:18 am Tuesday, 14 August 2018.

Northwesterly winds will continue to strengthen over southern pasts of the State this afternoon and evening ahead of a front moving through southern districts from around midnight tonight.

Damaging winds averaging 50-65 km/h with gusts of 80-100 km/h, are forecast over western and southern coastal parts of the warning area from later this afternoon. These winds will extend to remaining parts of the warning area, including the eastern slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges and western Murraylands this evening and overnight.

The front bringing squally showers will impact Kangaroo Island, the southern Mount Lofty Ranges, Upper and Lower South East from around midnight with isolated damaging gusts of 90-100 km/h also possible.

Locations which may be affected include Port Lincoln, Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, Kingscote, Victor Harbor and Meningie.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
* Secure or put away loose items around your property.
* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm ACST Tuesday.
